Here are some links to trials and reports that I have used to make treatment decisions, or that I have just found to be informative. As many as possible have been converted into PDF so that they will always be available here.

bullet Angiogenesis
In my opinion this is a must see for anyone wanting to know about angiogenesis.
bulletJust click on the first video clip and it will lead onto the next.

bullet Accutane: Jane takes 160mg in two 80mg doses (28 day cycle of 14 days on, 14 days off)

Phase 2 Evaluation of Temozolomide and 13-cis-Retinoic Acid for the Treatment of Recurrent and Progressive Malignant Glioma: A North American Brain Tumor Consortium Study
bullet"Conclusion: TMZ and cRA were active, exceeding our 20% thresholds for PFS 6 success, assuming 20% improvement over our previously reported database (glioblastoma multiforme: expected, 30%; observed, 32%; anaplastic glioma: expected, 40%; observed, 50%)."

bullet Caelyx: (intravenous) Jane has 70mg (28 day cycle, 1 dose on day one, 27 days off)

Phase 2 study of Temozolomide and Caelyx in patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme
bullet"We conclude that the combination of temozolomide and Caelyx is well tolerated, results in a modest objective response rate, but has encouraging disease stabilization in the treatment of recurrent GBM."

bullet Celebrex: Jane's takes 800mg daily in two 400mg doses

Phase I/II trial of a twice-daily regimen of temozolomide and celecoxib for treatment of relapsed/refractory glioblastoma multiforme and anaplastic astrocytoma.
bullet"Conclusions: A regimen of twice-daily TMZ and celecoxib is a safe and potentially effective regimen for the treatment of recurrent high-grade glioma."

bullet Cimetidine: Jane's takes 800mg daily in two 400mg doses

Combined cimetidine and temozolomide, compared with temozolomide alone: significant increases in survival in nude mice bearing U373 human glioblastoma multiforme orthotopic xenografts..
bullet"CONCLUSIONS: Cimetidine, acting as an antiadhesive and therefore an antimigratory agent for glioma cells, could be added in complement to the cytotoxic temozolomide compound to combat both migrating and proliferating cells in GBM."

Note: Jane has ceased Zantac and replaced it with Cimetidine.

bullet Clomipramine Jane takes 150mg once daily at night

Therapeutic potential of antidepressants in malignant glioma: clinical experience with clomipramine
bullet"Conclusions: These early results from a rather selected group of patients has led to a larger trial. The side-effect profile is good with only 5% of patients withdrawing due to gastro-intestinal or neurological side-effects. This well tolerated drug, designed to cross the blood-brain barrier is worthy of further study."

Note: Jane is currently resting from Clomipramine as at 150mg/day as it lowers her blood pressure too dramatically.

bulletMelatonin Jane takes 20mg once daily night before bed

Anti-angiogenic activity of melatonin in advanced cancer patients
bullet"Conclusions. This study, by showing that melatonin-induced control or the neoplastic growth is associated with a decline in VEGF secretion, would suggest that the pineal hormone may control tumor growth at least in part by acting as a natural anti-angiogenic molecule, with a following opposition or angiogenesis-dependent cancer proliferation."

Note: You need to use doctor prescribed full strength melatonin, homeopathic Melatonin (6X) such as that purchased at a chemist "over the counter" is one millionth (1,000,000th) of the dose used in trials.

bullet Procarbazine Jane takes 100mg daily in two 50mg doses

Phase I study of temozolomide combined with Procarbazine in patients with gliomas
bullet"TMZ 200 mg m(-2) and PCB 100 mg m(-2) were well tolerated on a daily 5 x and four weekly cycle in patients with malignant glioma and clearly had antitumour activity."

bullet Tamoxifen Jane takes 200mg daily in two 100mg doses

Tamoxifen-induced cell death and expression of neurotrophic factors in cultured C6 glioma cells
bullet"The results suggest that tamoxifen exerts cytotoxic effect on estrogen receptor-negative C6 cells through the inhibition of the transcription of bFGF."

bullet Temodal (Temodar) Jane takes 100mg daily as one dose first thing in the morning

Temozolomide in glioblastoma: 4 years' experience with monthly or fortnightly schedule
bullet"Conclusions: The expected median survival time is quite different 63 weeks versus 48 weeks and the enhancement is evident."

bullet Thalidomide Jane takes 150mg at night as one dose before bed

Phase II trial of thalidomide (TD), tamoxifen (TX), and temozolomide (T) for patients with advanced malignant gliomas (MG)
bullet"Conclusions: Outpatient therapy with temozolomide, thalidomide, and tamoxifen is well tolerated and results in stabilization/response in 64% of patients. Prophylaxis with warfarin may prevent DVT in patients on tamoxifen. The overall impact on survival will require further study."

bullet Zantac Jane takes 450mg as three 150mg doses
bulletThis is to protect the stomach from other prescribed drugs, such as Celebrex.

Note: Jane has ceased the Zantac and replaced it with Cimetidine.

supplements to come soon......
